Beware of Rogue Traders
There are hundreds if not thousands of rogue traders operating in the UK. To ensure you do not fall victim to these operatives we have set out some simple to follow rules belo​​w.

Don't do any business at the door with anybody it's unprofessional and cold callers is a bad sign.

Avoid companies that ask for cash only and who are not prepared to give you an invoice. Your work will not have a valid guarantee.

Do not use a company that has county court judgments lodged against them.

Never give the go-ahead for work to start without an agreed written quotation.

Do not use companies that do not have a verifiable address.

Avoid companies who don't have a land based telephone line - what sort of response will you get from a switched off mobile phone if there is ever a problem?

Avoid smooth talking tradesman who recommend additional work and once they arrive at your house behave more like salesmen than tradesmen.

Never use companies without a history of outstandingly satisfied customers. There could be a very good reason why they don't have a good reputation and satisfied customers happy to sing their praises.

Never use companies who don't guarantee their work - if they don't believe in the quality of their work, why should you?

What kind of tradesmen demands to be paid in cash, or wants his money before you've seen his work? Or they've carried out their's...

Do not use an unqualified or inexperienced company putting things right afterwards can be a very expensive operation.

Never allow any companies or tradesmen who do not carry photo id and have a booked appointment with confirmation of their full name into your property at any time.
